Outfit Today: Mommy Wear

This is a go to outfit when taking my son out in public. On this particular day I was daring enough to take Asher to Ikea on a Sunday....insert gasp here. I knew to wear leggings, perfect for chasing my running nugget and a loose comfy top, ideal for reaching under and over furniture to grab an arm a leg or any other limb I can to keep him from knocking over dressers. As much as I love my little man, I know I have to be ready for anything since his combination of energy and curiosity would put any crack head to shame! So here is what a typical day in the life on me as a mommy looks like. Enjoy dolls

One girls Maroon is another girls Oxblood

Hello friends and fans of Marci and Waking Up To This! ,My name is Ashley and I blog over at Oh Wells Instead Of What Ifs, a life "stylish" blog all about living life with no regrets.

I am always so thrilled when someone asks me to guest post, especially if that someone is a real life friend! Marci and I go way back to Jr. High and early high school when we danced together, and yes she has always had a knack for personal style.  Unlike me.

Yeah, don't be jealous of my ninja turtle shirt and jeans tuxedo, or my frizzy hair straightened by a curling iron, but only the parts I could see or my muted Hawaiian print shift dress.  I went ahead and left out the teal tiger leopard print pants and the Tommy Hilfiger overalls that I rocked almost every day of high school.
I have never considered myself a fashion blogger, mostly because while I do think my fashion sense has evolved over the years, I am no Carrie Bradshaw.  My most fashionable moments have always been directly tied to dresses I couldn't really afford to buy, but did for the sake of style and a fabulous hair day.
And I'd like to thank Nieman Marcus, Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren, Anthropologie and BCBG Collection for supplying me with these fabulous (but way out of my budget) looks.  And I'd also like to thank my credit cards for making this all possible.
These days I try to stick to simple classics, but one recent trend, has really caught my eye.  Maroon I mean Oxblood is the "it" color of the moment and I couldn't be happier.  For a gal with my coloring, oxblood is the answer to my hot pink nightmares.  Here are just a few of my oxblood favorites.

Skinny's, a feminine work dress, a leather jacket (similar here), platform heels (similar here), luscious lips, wrist bling, nails (blood curdling by Essie) and a girly coat.

Don't worry my new friends, I would never leave you lusting over all this beautiful deep red without helping you get some of your own!  Enter the drawing below for your chance to win a $15 Sephora gift card!  At least it will get your nails or your lips in on the Oxblood action!

My First Giveaway! {Closed}

I am so excited for my first ever giveaway on Waking Up To This! Anyone who has been following me for awhile knows that I am mildly definitely obsessed with all things diets/health/the newest eating craze. A little while ago I wrote a post about my short time as a vegan. Lets just say people who can actually stick with that and not cheat deserve a metal or trophy. With that being said, there are definitely aspects of it that I totally agree with. I now eat partially vegan, partially vegetarian, and partially naughty (because we all know I cheat here and there.)

Anyway, back to the point. Today's giveaway is in honor of the book that opened my eyes to the health benefits of eating vegan and the scary things that are put in our food everyday. It's called Skinny Bitch! I am giving away the second book released called Skinny Bitch In The Kitchen. It has tons on amazing recipes and I know anyone who is into health will love it! I keep mine in the kitchen right next to the stove so I have it on hand at all times.

To enter you have to be a follower of Waking Up To This and leave a comment below telling me you are. Don't worry, if you aren't already a follower you can still enter by starting to follow me now! Also, for an extra entry follow Marci Corlis Hairstylist on Facebook. Leave an extra comment below saying you are a follower on there as well. Thanks for being part of my first giveaway and good luck to everyone!!!

PS-yes I will be checking all entries for accuracy before randomly drawing the winner.

Upgrades

I have decided that our place needed a few upgrades {aka things that I have been meaning to do for the past 3 years we have been living in our house.} I had tons of projects hidden in closets and finally got around to doing them/making the hubs hang them. What sparked this change in attitude you ask? I found the most fabulous lamp at Target and thought I would DIE if I didn't buy it!!! After that it was all downhill {for JD.} Here are my fun little projects that I think have made such a difference! Enjoy dolls

PS-stay tuned for my first ever giveaway coming up! I'm super excited

The clock I got at my bridal shower.....yeah 3 years ago. It's finally up!

It hangs above my master bath tub, in between my gorg wall chandeliers

My new closet set up

My perfume, necklace handed down from my mom on a fun display stand, and my fantastic wall art

Couldn't live without my Gucci or Flowerbomb perfumes

Oh yes, that does say "I don't do fashion. I am fashion."

My white and gold vase with some beautiful sunnies in it

It sits above my kitchen sink so I can gaze at these lovely flowers all day

And finally my absolute fav upgrade! My huge full length Ikea mirror in black the the most insanely amazing floor lamp I have ever seen in my life!!! It's from Target and if you are lucky.....they might have a few left

Cute little silver pull detailing

Isn't this base to die for? I'm drooling
