I'm Seeing Spots

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a love of all things leopard. It's such a fun print and makes me feel a little wild :) It's a perfect combo of black and brown and makes it effortless to pair it with just about anything. When I wear this print I add a bright top to my leopard pencil skirt, my leopard flats to just about everything, and my sheer leopard print tank {a fav} with a black bra under it and a pair or skinnies with stilettos when I go out with some girlfriends. It is a staple in my closet and I love it for my home too. I have a leopard blanket that I keep on the couch to snuggle up with and a frame or two with this fab print. Be daring and try some leopard in your life!

Kitchen Trick

Have you ever been boiling water or cooking pasta and had it boil over on you? I have, many times and it is so annoying! Well I found a little trick on Pinterest that really does work wonders. If you put a wooden spoon across the top of your pot then it keeps the water from boiling over no matter how hot it gets. It's such a simple solution that I NEVER would have thought of but it truly works. I now use it ever time I heat any water and it always works. Try it out yourself, just make sure you use the same wooden spoon every time because the heat does warp it just a little bit.

White Chicken Chili

My mom makes this amazing chili every time we go to our cabin, right after Thanksgiving, and a lot during the winter. It's so yummy and filling without making you gain weight! It's low in calories and even ME, Marci, the pickiest eater in the world LOVES it!!! I know it's summer and about a billion degrees outside right now but my husband doesn't care. He asks for me to make this dish once a week to keep on hand in the fridge for those nights that I say to myself, "oh crap, you are supposed to take things out of the freezer before you intend to cook them?" I am not much of an early planner so most things don't make it out in time to get cooked in our house. This chili/soup is perfection reheated and lasts quite awhile. So next time you need something easy to make for the fam that requires ingredients that everyone keeps on hand, try this gem.

White Chicken Chili

Ingredients:

6 cups cooked chicken cut-up {I use 2 large cans of the kirkland chicken from costco, perfect}
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups chopped onion {I don't use this much. We aren't the biggest fans of onions in my house so I only do about 1/2 cup}
2 jalapeno peppers seeded and diced {I don't use these at all}
4 cloves garlic chopped
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper {I use regular black pepper}
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1, 4 oz can diced green chilies drained
2, 19 oz cans white kidney beans or white beans drained
2 cans chicken broth

Directions:

Heat oil over medium heat in a 5-quart pot, add onions and saute until soft. Stir in jalapenos and garlic; saute about 1 minute. Add flour, pepper, cumin, salt: stir to combine mixture well.

Stir in 3 cups chicken broth and green chilies into onion mixture and heat to boiling, stirring occasionally until thickened. Remove from heat.

Add chicken and beans to thickened onion mixture. Reheat to boiling and simmer for 5 minutes.

***top with shredded cheese, saltines, or tortilla chips if desired in individual bowls. {we do cheese and saltines}

50 Shades!

If you haven't heard of the phenomena 50 Shades of Grey then you have obviously been living under a rock! It is the best book I have read in my life!!! Let me give you the 411 on this gem. It's super sexy and about S&M. Yes you heard right. Sex sex sex is the main theme of this book......well I guess there is a relationship thrown in there too :) It's about a billionaire named Christian Grey {get the title of the book now?} and a woman named Anastasia Steele. When I read the first book I HATED {yet secretly loved} Mr. Grey and then once I read the second book my mind changed completely. I became obsessed and started wishing for the first time a fictional character could be real. The third book has the most action {no not sexual action.....actual action} and I think most people will like their relationship the best in that one but my personal fav will always be #2! You all seriously have to read these books, I can't stress it enough. The first one might scare you but just remember the next two are the best. Here are some funnies I found that show just how obsessed people have become with these books! Oh and did I mention they are making a movie out of it? YESSSSSSSSSSS! I can't even describe my excitement when I found out the news. I just don't know how they will even scale it down so it can be rated R. I know that I will definitely be seeing it the day it comes out at the IPic theater with a drink in hand! Boom

New Number 1

Have any of you ever seen New Years Eve? I rented it the other night and I absolutely LOVED it! It made me laugh, cry, and feel so 100% thankful for my bundle of joy named Asher. I have never been one of those people who believes in New Years resolutions, but this movie changed my mind. It give me hope that no matter what, you can change anything you want about your life. Even if you are having the worst night of your life.....Just DANCE! And if that doesn't work do my absolute favorite thing and drink some champagne. Your life is what you make it so go out and smile!!!

After all this unplanned New Years Eve talk you may be asking yourself why I brought this up. Well, I need to add a top #1 to my 30 before Thirty......spend New Years Eve in New York! I am not saying I need to stand in Time Square and watch the ball drop {even thought that would be insane!}. I just need to be there, feeling the energy, celebrating life, and being thankful for my past year....no matter when the date is. It is something that I really need to do at least once in my life after seeing that movie. If it is even 5% as exciting as the movie made it seem, I need to see it for myself.

Remember that even though New Years was awhile ago, it's never too late to make those resolutions happen!!!!

PS- I will tell you guys all about my Chicago trip ASAP!!! It was so fun but I was happy to get back to my boys :)

Trip Hair

My OCD set in for my Chicago trip but is now in overdrive. After making lists and planning outfits I am now choosing pre-set hairstyles. What is wrong with me? Only a hairstylist would have set hairstyles with each outfit that I have planned. Sometimes I wonder why I can't be normal, but then the voice in my head tells me everyone else is boring compared to me haha. So here are some ideas that are rolling around in my head! Enjoy

Big hair is ALWAYS a must!!!

Waterfall braids are always cute and will keep the hair out of my face while site seeing during the day

I think I will be busting out some straight hair once this trip too

Something fun and different

I might need some clip in extensions to pull off this bombshell look

Anyone who knows me, knows that I wear my hair in a bun at least twice a week

Sexy low bun is another option

Jeweled hair accessories are always a fav

Fishtail fun!!!
